By the 1960s, the space in the factory in Via Muredei was already too small for the growing number of workers and machinery for production.
The numerous applications made by the Zobele family to the local public administration for a new and more suitable space didn’t turn out as hoped, so the employees and workers occupied the Trento city hall in protest. The dispute ended with the purchase of a plot in Via Fersina where construction work began in 1979. 1981 marked the definitive move to the newly-built production plant.
“The transfer to the new premises – recalls a warehouse worker at Zobele since 1975 – was like moving to a hotel: everything was new and there was an exceptional level of comfort compared to the previous plant”.
The move to the new plant, more suitable in terms of size and organisation, offered the chance to introduce structural upgrades and technical improvements, which soon led to the doubled production capacity of the Fabbrica Chimica Zobele.
